Normally I’m not a big fan of the midwest, a place where grain elevator cathedrals mark each lonely mile, but when it comes to American politics, I’m the midwest’s biggest fan.
The Iowas Caucuses are less than a week away, and the swap of dignity for votes is in full swing. The candidates are out there doing all kinds of activities to look like the common man. John Kerry’s adventures in bowling were the most humorous to me, but for the life of me, I can’t begin to imagine where he was windsurfing in Iowa in near-zero temperatures.
In other news, Paul O’Neill is now backpedalling, telling the “Today” show that he wishes he could take back all of the mean things he said about President Bush. When asked if he would vote for Bush in the upcoming election, O’Neill said he “probably” would. “I don’t see anyone who is better prepared or more capable.” Deep down I do hope the Treasury Department busts O’Neill for being so stupid as to consider voting for Bush.
