A note from a loyal reader from Philadelphia:
I had been hoping against hope that Larry Brown (or Satan, as I prefer to call him) would be fired during the NBA finals just so he wouldn’t get a ring. So while I am very happy for local guys Rasheed and Rip winning a title, I continue to reject Satan and all his works. Thus despite my great pride in being an American, when the Olympic basketball tourney starts I’m rooting for Argentina.
Then to make matters worse, your Tigers take game 1 of the interleague series with the Phils last night. All I can say in our defense is that I have no idea who this Brian Powell (the fella who started for the Phils last night) is. I looked him up on ESPN.com, and they still have a picture of him wearing a Giants cap. (Although he and I share a common birthday, so I suppose he can’t be all bad.) Let’s see how your boys do when they face the heat from Brett Myers tonight.
However, my luck must be looking up. As I was walking to the train this morning, I found a $5 bill sitting on the ground practically begging me to pick it up. So I did. Then a few paces later, I found a dime on the ground. I’m up $5.10 and it’s not even 8AM yet. Maybe I should leave work early and head to the track.
