Candidacy

Today I am announcing that I will run as a write-in candidate on the Democratic ticket for City Council in the 3rd Ward of Ypsilanti.

I’ve decided to run for the same reasons everyone else is running — I want to help improve Ypsi. The City has always been tagged with the label of potential. I’ve lived here for nine or so years and it’s time that potential is realized.

The Water Street Project is key to revitilization of the city and especially downtown. However, the project could now cost the City $10M more than originally estimated.

West Cross Street needs to become a more viable shopping district and in order for that to happen, the City cannot vacate College Place. The area needs to become more friendly to foot traffic. The one-way traffic on W. Cross needs to be slowed in order to strenghten the businesses.

The City needs to keep its focus on historic preservation. It must rebound from the Paper Mill debacle and take steps to ensure a mistake like that will not happen again.

Everyone wants to see good things happen to Ypsilanti. I would like to be your representative and work to help fulfill those goals.

Sincerely,
Brian Robb
