If I’m ever going to be mayor, I’m going to have to become more comfortable with schmoozing. This evening I passed up every chance to kiss babies and glad hand the public. In what is hopefully the first of a series of meetings of young-ish Ypsilantians, I got to meet most of the digital elite. Name tags would have been beneficial to someone like me as I spent most of the evening referring to people as “that guy.” Anyway, it would be interesting to see where a second possible meeting goes. This sounds corny, but I really believe it’s time for my generation to step up and lead. Ypsi is a relatively small place and with some effort, the young-ish people could be running things in as little as four years. It’s easy to complain, but even more difficult to fix things.
