Small Steps

I killed tonight. I really did.

I spoke at tonight’s City Council meeting and voiced my opinion regarding the state of the City’s web site. The final version of my speech can be found here. It was very fair and hopefully it won’t fall on deaf ears. I went first, and was fortunate enough to go before Tyrone Wilson as he said similar things as I did, but in a less polite manner. I hope his opinion didn’t blend with mine in the heads of the council members. My statement wasn’t meant to criticize the City Clerk, but it may have come across that way. The way the clerk operated throughout the evening spoke for itself. No need to pile on.

The one thing that did bum me out was during the part allotted for Council Proposed Business when Councilman LaRue spoke out in support of me. Where in the hell has he been for the past two months? I mentioned this to him at the October 15th meeting of the Historic East Side Neighborhood Association. So now he shows concern? Thanks for the representation pal.

I shouldn’t be too pissed that someone listened to me. That was the whole point. If they really do fix the web site, it’s because of me. Put one in the win column. Still, I’m a little disappointed that what I had to say was only considered when brought up in a public forum like that. I’ve ragged on this issue a lot already. Maybe this gives some credibility to the nonsense I say. It was a riot to hear the City Manager and others talk about how they thought the web site worked. Mr. Koryzno really misrepresented how bad the web site was to the Mayor, which was unprofessional. He basically lied to her, but I doubt he understands just what is on the web site, so I won’t pass judgement. I’ll follow this up with a note to the Mayor and hopefully her and I will have the opportunity to sit down and discuss this further. Remember that I did volunteer to fix the web site nearly three weeks ago. They still haven’t taken me up on my offer. You know, this would be another softball. I’ll keep tossing them up. All you have to do is hit them out of the park.

In other council news, Councilman LaRue offered a resolution to make Ashley’s the official bar of Depot Town.
