So I’m sitting at one of my favorite establishments on Friday night trying to enjoy a nice cold glass of Christmas cheer when someone comes up to me and taps me on the shoulder. This person goes on and on about how I am constantly slandering upstanding members of the community with the trash that I write here. First of all, it’s libel not slander. I tried to explain the intracacies of the two to my weary traveller, but she was half in the bag and was in no mood to hear me out. This person’s tirade did get me thinking though. I have always tried to subscribe to the theory of catching more flies with honey than vinegar, but it’s hard to hold back a good rant. With that in mind, I would like to take the time to give kudos and congratulations where they are most deserved.

I have been criticizing members of City Council a lot as of late and I would like to take this moment to publicly thank the President Pro-Tem of the Dexter Village Council for helping me hang some drywall this weekend. To be honest, the President Pro-Tem and I never actually hung a piece of drywall as he was called away on “business” before we could start. Before anyone freaks out, the drywall in question is to replace the plaster in my study. When I purchased the house, the study originally had drywall over plaster. I removed the drywall in hopes of salvaging the plaster, but it could not be saved. And believe me, I tried. I just don’t want anyone questioning my historic preservation cred.

The plywood on the East Cross side of the Thompson Building has been properly repaired by the City. The window on Kircher‘s property behind the Thompson Building has also been fixed. Whoever is responsible for this should take the credit.

Wow. That felt really good.
