A quick word on two local events taking place in Ypsilanti’s 3rd Ward in the next couple of days.
The Corner Jazz Bash
The Ypsilanti High School Jazz Band and YHS Ensemble groups under the direction of Matt Kazmierski will be holding a fundraiser on Thursday, January 25th from 7PM to 11PM at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti. There will be a silent auction, a 50 / 50 raffle, and 50% of all food and drink profits from the event go to the YHS bands. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Advance ticket purchases can be made by calling 734.480.2518 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Corner Brewery is located at 720 Norris Street in the heart of Ypsilanti’s brewing district just north of Depot Town.
Depot Town Chili Challenge
The Depot Town Chili Challenge, a benefit for SOS Community Services, will offering folks the opportunity to select from over a dozen different types of chili this Saturday, January 27th from 3PM to 6PM. For a $5 donation, guests receive 10 chili samples from local businesses, free breath mints and discount coupons to Depot Town stores. Shannon Gordon, owner of Gordon’s Five & Dime organized the event this year and will be bringing his special red potato and cheese chili. Chili will also be provided by Dennis’ Music, Queen of Hearts, Aubree’s, Cady’s, The Corner Brewery, Cafe Luwak, The Ypsilanti Food Co-Op, and The Sidetrack Bar & Grill. Judging the best chili is optional.
