This past week, Ypsilanti really took it on the chin.
WDIV channel 4 was here so much, it would be a lot easier for them if they just opened an office on Michigan Ave. Between the happenings at EMU or behind motels and the stabbings and the shootings, Ypsilanti sounded a lot less like the place the kids from Leaving Rouge sang about on the Ypsi-Songs disc.
For the sake of some feel-good news from Ypsilanti, I’m going to jam a week’s worth of glad tidings from everyone’s favorite city on the banks of the Huron River over the next five days.
Whether or not you are a fan of that Swedish super-store, Ikea, they like to help out the little guy as much as they can. In a world where Mainstreet USA is continually under assault by the Walmarts, the Costcos, and the internets of the world, the little guy chugs along.
Obviously Ikea is working an angle, but who isn’t? Regardless, they like to profile companies that use their products in a commercial setting. And they like to profile them HERE. It just so happens that next month, one of those companies profiled will be none other than Ypsilanti’s very own The Rocket (located at 103 West Michigan Avenue for your convenience).
That’s pretty damn cool.
Paul has assured me that by the time they are listed, their website will be ready to take the 1M or so hits from people around the world looking to buy drinking containers for their glögg and decorative metal tins for their fishballs or smul paj.
I suggest you drop in now before they are all out of mullet gift packs.
