Capture the Trash, a new event sponsored by the Depot Town CDC, Eastern Michigan University, and YCUA (among others), will be held this weekend in Riverside and Frog Island Parks from 11AM to 3PM. The point of the event is to clean up the parks in a fun way. Prizes will be awarded for things such as the Most Unique Piece of Trash, Largest Piece of Trash, as well as who can pick up the most trash.

This is sort of awkward for me as this Friday night is when my neighborhood association cleans up our neighborhood. In the past, we’ve dumped what trash we’ve collected in Riverside and Frog Island Parks.

Both causes are worthwhile and demonstrate community spirit. I would encourage everyone to pick an event and join in the fun.

For those wishing to participate in my neighborhood’s fun, we will meet at the same place as last year. Wear dark clothes.
