Positively Pete Murdock (Or M Is For Murdocracy)

The Ann Arbor News has weighed in again on local Ypsilanti politics. Their most recent position is that of endorsing Pete Murdock for the Ward 3 City Council seat being vacated by Brian Filipiak.

Endorsements are a curious thing. If I were Pete, I would be working on a press release at this very moment renouncing the endorsement. It’s not that I wouldn’t want it. It’s just that an endorsement from Mr. Petykiewicz et al is almost the kiss of death here in Ypsilanti.

That not withstanding, here are some of the things they had to say about Pete:

…we believe 3rd Ward voters and the city would be best served by electing Pete Murdock.

Murdock, a retired Recycle Ann Arbor employee, has been an activist on a wide range of issues over the years. His resurgence in Ypsilanti politics was driven largely by his dissatisfaction with the way dwindling city financial resources were being used. He worked actively to defeat the income-tax proposal.

Voting for Murdock may feel a little bit like going back to the past, but his solid background in city affairs makes him the best choice for voters in Ypsilanti’s 3rd Ward.

Everyone knows that I’ve been supporting Pete, but I’ll just add to his list of endorsements. Pete has an unbelievable grasp of how local government works and how to get things done. He’s just the kind of person we need on Council to continue moving Ypsilanti forward.

MmmmmmmmmmMurdocracy.

You can’t trust the Ann Arbor MSM. Nosiree-bob. And you can never be sure when the argot rust might have done funny things to the morning dose of granola that most Arborites gulp down with their lattes…

Let Ypsi be Ypsi! And learn from your mystics (it’s my only advice)

Uh-oh, gotta get back to my coffin…

    Frank,

I once knew I guy who thought much the same way you do. I must be almost 20 years now, but I think his name was Lee Atwater. You remind me of him.

Oh Councilman Robb, the past is mere prelude but prelude to what??? That is the question that confronts us all.

Lee Atwater stood atop the mountain, but then the mountain slid into the valley and there you have it. The lesson? Hard to say… But as Lee slid into the abyss he let loose a wail of regret and remorse… I hope that never happens to you. Sincerely I do. But be ever watchful, for the temptations are great and the ego is large. I repeat, be ever watchful.

Hmmm. It’s Friday night and I can’t wait for the next episode of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader.” That’s your kinda show! You would do Ypsi proud if you were a contestant!!!!!! But you might stumble in the category “3rd Grade Thermodynamics.” That’s always a toughie….

    Funky Frank
