Me & John Kerry

Why I voted for John Kerry.
There was a time when I had convictions. Those days are long in the past. It may sound a little sad to say it, but when it comes to politics in the twenty-first century it’s all about winning. It’s not about electing a president who represents me, but rather it’s about electing someone other than George W. Bush.
If the truth be known, I wanted John Kerry to become president back in 1996. He just looks presidential, and as pathetic as it may sound, we could use someone who looked presidential. Kerry has the pedigree to be president as well. He was winger on the Yale soccer team. He earned a chestful of medals in Vietnam. And don’t forget his name — John F. Kerry — it just looks right.
The guy is hardly bulletproof. He’s blue-blood liberal from the North East — a characteristic that won’t help him be indentified as the “common” man. He can seem aloof and standoffish. And let’s not forget the issues voters are raising about the size of his head.
The bottom line is that Kerry scares Bush. I think it’s hardly a coincidence that as Kerry steamrolls through the primary season, G.W. has decided to appear on Meet The Press with Tim Russert.
