Results, Or Out Where The Buses Still Run

At tonight’s AATA Planning Committee meeting, the committee unanimously recommended using just over $200K worth of Federal stimulus money to make up the shortfall in Ypsilanti’s budgets for the next two fiscal years. They essentially recommended the resolution Ypsilanti City Council passed on September 8th.
Keep in mind, this is only a recommendation, but if the full board passes this, there will be no service cuts, and we will be having an millage election of some sort in November of 2010.

If there is a millage proposal in November, I am for sure voting for it. We really need to keep the buses running. I take the bus all of the time and while I can easily adjust to service cuts because I have a car, I can tell you that isnt the case for everyone. The buses are pretty crowded at rush hour, especially the ones like the 10 or 11 which go to the farther reaches of Ypsilanti TWP. People need to get to where they are going and even people who dont ride the bus benefit from it if it means employees can get to their jobs.
